Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Fraud Alert
New scam targets mobile banking users
Two-factor authentication is becoming more and more of a common practice when logging into a secured site, from doing online shopping to conducting business via your Online Banking account. The ability to receive a text alert to then allow you to log into your secured account is a convenient extra layer of security.
However, a recent trend has been occurring more and more lately involving scammers posing as various sites and using text messages to convince recipients to divulge their information. At the time of this writing, the scam appears mostly on AndroidTM* devices, and asks users to download a security form to avoid their account being locked, suspended or terminated.
As a reminder, no business nor financial institution will ask you to download a form or click on a link to validate your account. If you receive a message like this, please let ITCU know immediately and do not click on any links or respond to the message in question.
